Never thought I would cry over someone remembering a recipe lol this movie was a joy. Equally parts funny, dramatic, emotional, and moving I was pleasantly surprised by this instant classic. Great directing. Loved the entire cast. So many well known faces and loved actors. Everyone had great chemistry. Script was well written. After the pandemic and losing so many loved ones this movie hits home like never before and is so relatable. I love David E Talbert and Will Packer is a delight also. Hoping they make more movies like this togother. Only gripe is that I wanted it to be longer to tie up some more loose ends which is strange request from me. Loved this film!
Grateful for such a transparent and raw movie on mental heath in the black community. This movie was not only shocking but eye opening and informative. I didn't expect it to make me tear up at the end but it sure did. It's not an Oscar winner but it is a candid portrayal of what could be anyone's story dealing with mental illness. I love the unconditional love showed in this film. Kyla Pratt adds a nice touch as well as the male lead. As skeptical as I was of the film I ended it with an inspirational outlook and more compassion and respect for those who suffer with these demons. Kudos to the cast and and the production team. Well done. Decent script, no guns, drug use, sex or unnecessary stereotypes perpetuated just good storytelling and realism. A breath of fresh air for african american films.
Loved this musical. Well done twist on an old timeless classic. Better than I expected. Great music, good actors , and good director. I wish more black films could be like this. The selections could of lasted a bit longer. Songs were a bit too short. But the film was great and it was a beautiful movie. Neyo could have sang just a little bit more. They were a bit stingy with the singing lol other than that it was awesome.
Serayah and Neyo did a good job acting. Children were cast well. Script was well done and a nice change from the original. Songwriters are to be praised and lauded. Nice christian film.
