  • Lin Manuel Miranda ruined it

As soon as he starts talking he's just a racial caricature. I literally had to stop watching I felt second- hand embarrassment. Awful and offensive creep.

I don't know what else to say about it other than the rest of the episode is leaky unwatchable wherever he shows up on screen. The quiet fake accent and terrible script make it so much worse. There's so plot development and this is just a "filler" episode that never should have been broadcasted. There is no reason for any of the scenarios from happening other than an obviously plugged circle-jerk to the American film & music industry. Embarrassing.

  • Lots of filler, yet hundreds of plotholes & unanswered questions

Admittedly, I have not read the book (yet), but there seems to be a lot of glaringly obviously plot holes and the ending is not satisfying at all. A lot of screen time wasted by having the characters ponder and pace around. Easily could have been a 2-part drama, but producers dragged it along for EIGHT long episodes.

There are a lot of suspicious characters (the football staff) who behave strangely, by hiding and sneak around (Shane), with no explanation as to what they were actually doing. As for the hidden cameras and car tracking being a plot device, some of the zooming in and lingering camera shots were totally unnecessary.

A lot of the speech throughout the script were clearly used purely as red-herrings for the audience's sake. E.g when Lily shouted "Dadda" at a bush.

Why did Judith give critical information to Maya about the rehab clinic when she knew that Maya was searching for Christopher. Judith knew that he was unstable and would have cracked to reveal the truth to Maya. So why did Judith write everything out, when she knew that Christopher's confession would ruin the entire Burkett Legacy.

The big reveal about Nicole was glaringly obvious from the start, since Kierce never received a single response from her. His supposed "Partner, Sponsor and Bestfriend" who never answered any text messages and she was never shown interacting with anybody else. It was not a plot-twist but an over-used trope to showcase Kierce as being "deranged".

The repeated sub-plot with Claire's exboyfriend did nothing to progress the story, since he only interacted with 2 characters who didn't even help to conclude his arc. His son was used as a prop, which he didn't even need to be used anyway. The headmaster clearly knew that Claire was faking and lying the whole time, yet he gave her the information she needed, so the son didn't need to be there. How did Claire know about the school in the first place?

  • Yet another Netflix Flop

The plot is literally pulled straight from these TV episodes...If you've watched Black Mirror episode "Hated In The Nation"/ Misfits (any of the episodes involving "Jimmy Cisco"), you'll know exactly how the Luther film ends. The storylines are near identical, but this time around are executed much worse, in comparison to the Black Mirror and Misfits. Despite being more than 2 hours long, a lot of scenes have clearly been omitted to save time, at the expense of the audience's comprehension.

The only saving grace to this, is the beautiful cinematography to distract you from the awfully over-used plot with missing details.
