The HBO/Max limited series Duster (2025) brings back memories from community college when we had access to the family's1972 yellow Plymouth Duster with the black vinyl roof. This was no jacked-up red cherry Duster roadster as depicted in this limited series, but a noteworthy vehicle nonetheless. Our Duster was more family car whose color indicated it just might be a lemon as well. Built by the Big Three during the Energy Crisis these cars were flawed automotive products, prone to oil leaks due mostly to cheap engine gaskets requiring frequent servicing. (The Motor City/UAW protecting their financial lifeblood.) In the 5-6 years we owned the car it once required a new engine when we ran out of oil on the Lodge Freeway and a new front end when we skidded off the snowy service drive at the college, severing 3 gaslights at their bases. Noteworthy, and with time & treatment, streaming in 2027✌🏾
Trial by Fire (2018) illustrates the corrupt system of justice in the state of Texas. As a career news writer/editor, we know this corrupt system of justice exists in many jurisdictions in the U. S. Texas may be the state where the evil bloodlust of vengeance has been packaged and sold most effectively to a weak & simple public. The American System of Justice is ripe with Corruption. Wherever judges & prosecutors are elected, truth & justice lose value. Judges, prosuctors and courts cannot tolerate people like us contaminating their jury pools. This is why we will never be selected for jury duty.
We recall the raging public debate 30-40 years ago over high-speed cop car chases because of the danger to cops & innocent bystanders. This danger is heightened in densely populated urban areas. Another important factor is the damage to public and private property, including taxpayer-funded police cars and other equipment. This debate resulted in some progressive jurisdictions banning such chases. Stressed-out cops today we know also tend to murder/execute suspected felons before they can be brought to justice. Ambulance (2022) clearly illustrates a desperate need for widespread police reform in California & across America.
