I understand that they probably wanted to convey a feeling of what it is like to live in a boring little town but they overdid it. It was way too much and without any humorous elements. The man-eating parts were simply discusting. A total waste of time.
I waste of time. Dicaprio played his role very well and so did Brad Pitt. there were some funny scenes in it but all in all it is way too long and not much happens in all the time. I loved the dog scenes though, for that I am glad that I eventually watched it but otherwise it is not worth it. The 'story' is told in almost 3 hours and there are about 2 suspenseful scenes in it. The main part is the last 10 or 15 minutes and that's it.
I disagree with the previous review, I don't think that this series would be a remake of the Scandinavian series: the bridge. Apart from the basic situation that a dead body is found at the border of the German and Austrian border there are no other similarities. I found this series a lot more interesting than the Bridge, but tastes differ. In this one I found the characters a lot more realistic and also more sympathetic. My favorite was the Austrian inspector with his disillusioned attitude. It's worth watching that's for sure.
