Since Gladiator is one of the best movies I ever watched, I came into this with big expectations.

They were not fulfilled.

The movie tried so much to be like Gladiator that it had no unique identity. It didn't have to be the same kind of revenge story we saw in Gladiator.

There were a bit too many characters, and most of them had little to no depth to them.

The new Commodus replacements lacked real motivations and where just crazy stereotypes. Commodus had real motivations. A story of his own. They... don't.

I think Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen did a good job on there characters. They did as much as they could with what they had.

Lucius goes through the same kind of revenge story as Maximus did, but where Maximus had charisma and just pure love for his family and soldiers. Lucius seems to just be a bitter, arrogant and strong guy.

Would love to have seen more of Joseph Quinn and his Emperor Geta. We just scratched the surface with his character.

I was dissapointed when I saw that Hans Zimmer didn't compose the music for this. For Gladiator he made such a magnificent piece of work that it was able to really compliment the movie.

Harry Gregson-Williams who composed the music for the sequel, didn't add anything new. I listened to the soundtrack again and just noticed a lot of standard battle music. The only thing that stood out, was 'now we are free' which is copied from Gladiator.

One hour and a half of madness. This movie is shorter than recent ones coming out. It's filled with action and excitement.

It doesn't waste much time getting started, don't want to wast time getting to know new characters like we did in the last one.

In my opinion the new rooms weren't as cool as the ones in the last movie but it tries to change stuff up.

The ending was great, it left you in a bit of a shock, combined with the awesome soundtrack, you just kinda wanna sit there and watch the full credits.

As said I thought the soundtrack was pretty good, although they recycle the main theme throughout.

All in all it was a pretty good movie, deserving of a watch! Enjoy.

First of all I do like the series, Since I am a fan of the originaliteit movie its nice to see it back with a new style. but one of the first things that I noticed was that almost the whole cast are good looking men & women, of course that might be details but to me its a bit unrealistic because you can really tell they are older than "high school" age. but still I think the cast do aa good job and there is an allround good setting
