Interesting concept for a story, but it's execution could have been stronger. I don't think it's the fault of the actors, probably the and dialogue and direction is to blame.
It's dark alright. Dark, bleak, hopeless. I like Jim Carrey tackling more dramatic roles, but it's hard to grasp much about his character. It doesn't help that he seems to be trying to speak in some kind of an accent, but it wavers so much you can't really tell what kind of an accent. Unless you're a Carrey super fan, this is a film that could be avoided.
