Sitting down to play with full enthusiasm, I started the story mode at the beginning. It was fun to play and the tasks and choices often forced immoral decisions. The factions have such extreme views that it is difficult to satisfy both sides. The story was not too long and was quite adequate. As stated in the game's description, it is intended to prepare us for playing in free mode. After starting the free building mode, I was disappointed. With the goal of building a 50k metropolis at 30k, there has already been a breakdown in politics and the liquidation of the main factions. There was practically no point in continuing the game. The decisions you have to make have the same pattern and results as in the plot. The research tree is half useless and 60% of the researched buildings are not used. So there's a lot of work to be done here because the game doesn't capture the same atmosphere as the first part.
I can evaluate the gameplay based on the campaign in version v40852 and, to put it briefly, the game is not easy. Throughout the entire game, we cannot set the difficulty level. It is interesting that one often has the impression that the policemen from SWAT are stupider than the criminals. The game has many graphical bugs, but the most annoying is that they can kill you through walls and other obstacles. Our team can get stuck in some place and does not always follow the commander's orders. Despite many shortcomings, the game is of a high standard and can be a challenge. It cannot be denied that the game is practically the younger brother of SWAT 4. Enemies can wait around the corner with a gun aimed straight at the head and most missions end in death if we lose our vigilance. Good luck team...
I won't write about the technical aspects of the game because everyone has probably already read about CSII optimization. The game has potential for expansion and improvements, so I'm raising the rating to 7. For me, the most irritating thing was the road traffic system. Emergency services vehicles are stuck at red lights and in traffic jams, which creates more traffic jams. Overall, the game needs a lot of fixes. I haven't played Cities: Skylines 1, so I can't compare it, but at level 13 it started to get boring. Perhaps, as Hallkainen wrote, "might just not be for you." Alternatively, I can wait for the next patches and become interested in the game again when it becomes more stable and playable.
