15 million may not seem like a low budget, but in terms of most movie making it is quite low budget these days. This movie got the most of out of it's money I think.
Are you going to be wowed by the cinematography and special effects? No, but they are pretty decent for what they are. If you're looking for the special effects and action sets of a big budget super hero movie, this isn't it. But they do a really good job with what they have.
Acting is good enough, directing is decent, the found-footage style photography adds to the suspense and drama well enough. The two main characters are fleshed out enough to facilitate the simple story. The climax of the movie has a pretty good pay off.
If you're looking for an off beat, low key movie about super powers, you might enjoy this.

I hate it when people try to reinvent ideas or concepts just for the sake of reinvention. This is essentially a story about how Christmas came to be. The fact that this boy is named Christmas is irritating, the overemphasis on chocolate in this movie is irritating. The characters are flat and boring. The story is utter nonsense.
Whether you're fan of the religious or secular aspects of Christmas, I think this movie does a good job at offending both. It simultaneously erodes any sort of religious association to Christmas (including general concepts like charity and good will during the season), and sucks the magic out of any secular traditions (IE Santa Claus, Elves, etc..). Pretty much it wants you to believe that Christmas is all about getting gifts and chocolate.
My kids were bored, I was bored, my wife was bored, if I had dog, I think it would be bored. Just skip this one. Very overrated.

It was a fine movie, but honestly a little too feel-good sometime with very little stakes. It sorta felt like a more dramatic version of a hall mark special. There was nothing really inherently wrong with the movie, just that it was a tad boring at times.
Also, they tell the story from a narrators point of view, and I kinda felt like the choice to do that was a little needless. It didn't add anything to the story, and kinda just bogged the whole experience down.
I usually enjoy Dennis Quaid's performances. He's not the best actor, but I always find his performances endearing and entertaining. I'm not so sure he was the right pick for Reagan. He looks the part of course, but he doesn't really disappear into the role. He also does this thing with his voice that is meant to sound like Reagan, but it's a bit overacted and distracting.
I would recommend it as a one time watch if there's nothing else to watch and people want a casual filler movie. Just don't expect to be blown away or anything.
