Of all episodes, this is the most terrifying and chilling story. Because an individual's twisted mind and greed goes to the extent he does not hesitate taking the lives of two innocent step daughters. Jeremy Brett is of course excellent in sensing the danger and empthasies the horror faced by Helen Stoner the part excellently played by the young actor Rosalyn Landor. David Burke as Watson in the first season supplements well with Holmes' characterThe ending is rather
horrifying considering 80s.
The purge may not occur at present times. But it does subtly. Governments sanctioning blood path in the form of riots, jingoism, ethenic cleansing. As from a third world country, we face lot of similarities - Government working for the super rich after getting elected by a have nots promising them a future invoking national pride obscuring their real agenda, diverting people's anger against a particular race or religion with their propaganda they are the reasons for the Country's miseries. This is a very well made movie with lot of cinematic licences. But the real fact is it is very much thought provoking. Do we allow ourselves to be persuaded by fiery speeches of protecting country's culture , pride whilst not realising the real need is people need means to live and not turn against each other at the instigations of the very people we elect?
