You can't fake a Polaroid... It was a rather good thriller. A supernatural horror film that did not go overboard on the gore. Thanks to the magazine editor, the storyline was laid out fairly early on in a believable way which helped set the expectations for what we were about to experience.
There were spooky jump scenes and frightful longer scenes able to send chills right through the chest. Lasting feelings that can still creep back. The creepiness sprinkled throughout the movie was well done.
However, Shutter is also about our failings, our casualness with others' feelings, and how events can make us relive the hurt and the tragic mistakes we made earlier in life.
The film's final spoken line: "Sometimes, spirits long for their loved ones." As the movie drew to a close, I waited to see how they would spin the ending. Well, they did it. Poignant and horrific. Well worth it.
