An adult will immediately grasp the concept of this movie. A human's mind made of joy, fear, despair, anger and disgust. When entering school some elements are further developed, while others may sadly disappear.
There is no official age restriction to this movie. The colourfulness will draw kids into the story and let them follow the adventures of the emotions set up with an avatar for each. I guess it will require some maturity for kids to understand the concept of brain chemistry.
As your kids grow up they will appreciate the scientific base and also understand that depression is not their fault, but a complicated biochemical process that can be helped.
The screen is all animated, the graphics are 3D. Not a blockbuster, but definitely smart edutainment to watch and re-watch as the mind grows.

This is an action movie you would experience with much more intensity in a cinema with moving seats like on a rollercoaster ride.
Watching the DVD bonus films helped me appreciate all the skills involved in this filmmaking, eg recording a flying airplane from another flying Cinejet, and the training of the actors involved. I regret that this background information did not make it into the movie. Apparently there is no CGI in this movie, but only real flying, and I still wonder how these actors could learn to fly real fighter jets in so little time, unless they would have been trained pilots?
The movie itself is very action based, but with a story. The editing must have been tough, resulting in many flight sequences artful to watch. But the path repeats itself with pilot faces distorted from G-forces, which is not so interesting to watch.
There is a story and adrenaline music, but it could have been more elaborated. Sometimes there is no other way but to use counter-violence to protect a nation, but this is always the last step in a long process of diplomatic talks. I regret there was zero attempt to resolve the issue with diplomatic talks in this movie. Physical violence clearly is not the first step to solve problems. Also, the training of the actor pilots was surprisingly tough, but did not make it into the movie.
After watching you will appreciate pilot skills as well as military organisation. The issue of illegal nuclear construction is a serious one. Men must learn to talk about it, or send their women to do the politics.
After all, what are you fighting for? A single nation on the planet? Nobody can survive alone. Humans can't win over nature. 9G, heat waves, cancer, those are the real boundaries of life, or call them your enemies.

I find action movies boringly predictable. Fast cars derailing, big fire explosions, and actors in bone-breaking situations. You'll see all of that here, but more than that this movie takes you behind the scenes:
The director making decisions on set, a hundred extras assisting the picture, the trail of moving cameras, the real world shooting and the result on the cinema screen after an alien CGI morphing. You'll see big fires and multiple angle falls from a stuntman underlined with adrenaline filled music. Nothing has been left to drag, the action is breathtaking.
Now you think this is a smart movie, but it gets even deeper than that. The actors are involved in a story of love and crime, that steadily unfolds parallel to the shooting. The pacing and transition of action and dialogue scenes is smoothly balanced, again underlined with mood-setting music.
This movie takes you onto a colorful road journey with bars and beaches, extraterrestrial planes, and many citations from other movies. James Bond movies are extravagant, but this one takes you much deeper into the action genre without missing out on the blockbuster feeling.
At the end of the ride you will ask yourself why stuntmen are not credited on cinema billboards. Should they?
