Ok, this episode is massively over-hated. I've seen some people say there's bad acting, personally I didn't notice it. There's definitely tons of fan service but that stuff doesn't annoy me as much as it does others. The issues come when you look at the lore. The meta stuff in this episode is confusing, it makes you question whether the entire series is canon or not. Also there is a certain plot wrap up to the first episode that I can't decide if I'm satisfied with or not. Something definitely feels off, something isn't concluded. But just remembering back to the episode first impressions, I enjoyed it. So anyways, it's a solid episode, but something feels missing.
I mean, there has to be a lawsuit in here somewhere. I honestly don't know what to think. Like, they just kinda threw some kids into the middle of the desert and then watched as they slowly descended into some "Lord of the Flies" type stuff. This has the the work of an escaped mental asylum patient right? Who funded this?
This movie is good enough. I cared for the characters just fine and the eventual "twist" was predictable but a fine plot point. However, the writing at times feels clunky and the decisions at points feels odd... plus the fact that this movie has a confusing ending doesn't help. Overall, this movie is a fine brainless short supernatural horror flick.
