Like the title of my review states, I am not a big anime guy. I loved Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in a Shell during my teen years but never really found anything after that that grabbed my attention. Until a friend told me to watch AoT (Attack on Titan) which becane one of my favorite shows of all time.
I was one of the few people that genuinely enjoyed my time in Night City when Cyberpunk 2077 released. That being said I am sure it helped that I had a PC with the capability to play the game on all of its highest settings.
This show is a wild ride through Night City that never let's up from episode 1 all the way to the final moments of episode 10. I knew that the show was in development but was presently surprised when I turned on Netflix today (my day off) wondering what I was going to watch and it was just waiting there for me. I watched it from begging to end with a small break to cook food somewhere in the middle of the show. I found the story and the characters to be fun and intriguing. I also found it to be a breath of fresh air when it became apparent (very quickly) that this show wasn't going to play it safe or pull its punches.
After finishing my hope is that we will get to go back to Night City and see some more action. Very fun, will watch it again and I hope we get a renewal.
P. S. Yes it's animated, no it's not for kids. It's TV MA and it takes every advantage of that.

I found the show to be a bit of a slow burn for me. I love the RE world and personally have no problem with creators sharing their own vision of a world (Halo, Witcher ext). In the beginning I was disappointed but by the end I found myself entertained (mostly). Not sure how I feel about the family drama but if it is used to create a platform and back story for these characters I believe it could act as a decent foundation for further seasons. I personally finished the show with a desire to see a second season, I would like to see where the story goes and in equal part hope that it gets better so that I didn't completely waste 8 hours of my life. I always try and take the first season of a show with a grain of salt because there is so much set up and foundation building happening. The hope is that it gets better off of what was put in place in the first season.
I read somewhere that there is a 4 hour cut of this movie and I would watch it no questions asked. About an hour before the movie ended I was dreading the thought that this was going to be another franchise I was going to have to wait years between installments. This movie may not be for everyone but it hit all the right buttons for me.
It was grand in just about every way it could have been. Many times during the movie I found myself blown away by the film makers ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of pure epicness. Between the score and the filming style I was brought to a place I haven't been brought to by a sci-fi film since Avatar.
If you enjoy a deep story with intriguing characters, great filming, great acting and a massively ambitious score than I suggest you watch this film. I, will most definitely be watching this on repeat while I eagerly await the next installment.
