The One That Got Away
Why is it that every modern crime series has to include a detective with a chequered history, psychological issues, or a complicated family life often with wild unlikeable children. If said detective has a normal happy family life, then it must develop an extramarital affair. These themes are constantly recycled with a minor twist. It would be very refreshing to watch a good drama, that keeps the viewer guessing right up to the end. It seems the main criterion is to include an overarching soap story.
The that got away, oh almost forgot, basically a good story but riddled with irritating cliches, recycled from previous dramas, so disappointing.

First of all I would like to comment on the arrogance of one of the very few bad reviewers that commented " the one big mystery is how come so many reviews are so good". Well maybe the answer is in the comment. If you don't like it just say so and be done.
We really enjoyed this series, a good mix of mystery and humour, the humour coming from actions and one liners.
The writing tempted the viewer down the wrong path on occasions. Having a series of investigations alongside the main theme of searching for the brother kept the interest going.
We felt the acting was excellent all round without singling anyone out.
All in all an easy and enjoyable watch.

With all the big budget films on this subject, I believe it was unwise to make this on such a low budget.
The aerial night shots and the fighter attacks simply do not look realistic nor do they convey the terror that would have been experienced by the crew.
The domestic scenes feel contrived, a long way from the stoicism displayed by people in the war.
Even so, with the right direction and actors that can translate the atmosphere and environment of the time, a much better and realistic film could have been produced.
Possibly the main issue here is the youthfulness of the film makers, whatever it is, a fail I'm afraid.
