A young girl with a talent for writing music is introduced to the king's court, where she befriends a mermaid.
The plot is very simplistic and the characters are a bit two dimensional, but it contains magic and mermaids This is not the film for a middle-aged man but younger viewers, especially girls, will love it.

The film is set on a Greek island where a lonely and emotionally unstable Leda (Olivia Coleman) is having a holiday. We find out what's troubling her though a series of flashbacks.
Olivia Coleman is superb, and Jessie Buckley does an amazing impression of Olivia Coleman that is a joy to watch.
The film is mainly about the difficulties of being a mother and the trauma that places on the daughter. The acting is great, the scenery is fantastic and the use of Italian language of really good. The film kept me gripped, but it has a slow pace, so you have to be patient and use your imagination.
