For me, personally, this is one of those shows that will always be my favourite. Nowadays, such type of shows don't exist even remotely, as in these times in the name of making the show so called 'realistic', they make it either kind of too depressing or just into something really stupid! After all, a tv show or movie's one of the main purposes is to connect with the audience in the best way possible. For instance, this show has everything, it's realistic, i mean uncannily realistic, it has got humour, it has got romance, it's unpredictable and has really got an element of surprise to it, in short it has got everything, a show of this genre must have, but the difference in this show is that the way in which it has attempted to tell the story of these brave men has a certain charm and understanding to it, which the today's shows thoroughly lack( at least I feel that way)!! According to me, it deserves an even higher rating.. seriously!

I watched this movie about 12 years ago. At that time i wasn't able to watch it completely for some reason, so for a long time i wanted to watch it again and this time right from the start to the very end. I just watched it an hour ago today and man what a movie this is. It literally makes you feel so many emotions at the same time, and it indeed tries to convey such a powerful message that one's destiny is in his own hands and one should definitely make the best use of all the things that he/she is given by God which is perhaps the main theme of the movie according to me. It really doesn't matter how you look or how the society really perceives you, but all that matters in the end are your good intentions and a lot of heart and courage in whatever you do, and all these things do really matter in our lives. This movie just touched my innermost soul and literally shaked it to the core!!... This move is beautiful and inspiring at the same time without being overly graphic, violent or dramatic like today's movies. I can definitely watch it 1000 times and never ever get bored out of it. And i will recommend this movie to just anyone, which will be a big favour to them, of course!!... Tom hanks definitely proves in this movie why he is one of the very few true legends out there!!...

Sidney Poitier as we know is a legend, and he truly shows in this movie that why he's respected that way. Everything about this movie is superb, from the starting where the teacher enters the class and sees the plight of those unfortunate, undisciplined children to the way he transforms them to a fine, disciplined lot. Along the way, the teacher encounters many obstructions in fulfilling his objective but nonetheless he tries to learn from those obstructions and achieves it with flying colours!!... Actually this movie along with entertainment is a kind of educational movie too which shows that how important moral values actually are for the over all development of a society. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially children and teenagers!!...
