The Staircase is an interesting story with great acting. However, the poorly executed timeline makes the story impossible to follow. The well-known and heavily-promoted story is an automatic audience draw. With a proper storyline, this engaging tale could be told far more effectively, and more efficiently, probably in 5-6 episodes. The brilliant performances kept me glued to a disappointing script and lousy editing.
Supposedly true stories? I can accept the possibility. However, these are not stories told by eyewitnesses. These are scripted stories read by someone: lousy actor, poorly educated eyewitness, whatever. Obviously scripted and very poorly read. Solution 1: Get better writers and hire decent actors or a host to read the new and improved scripts. Solution 2: let the people tell you their own story in their own words. Replace writers with quality producers and editors. Problem solved!
Brilliant performances and writing. Loaded with unexpected moments.
