I've been a huge fan of this series for years so I'll try to review as spoiler free as I can.
If a newcomer can watch the first film without watching any of the series' first 2 seasons, this is definitely not the case with this 2nd movie. With this one, you need to watch ALL 3 seasons and the first movie to be able to follow with what's going on in this one.
The tone of this film is also way darker than the first movie or even the other seasons so it might throw some of you off especially if you brought your little kids along to watch it.
This movie feels alot heavier too. I feel exhausted after the movie ended and i don't even mean it in a bad way. The amount of things happening during the 2nd and 3rd act was really alot to take in.
However, one of my main complaints of this movie is the writing of Ali's character which seems to be experiencing a regression. Ali in the first movie seems a whole lot more mature than this 2nd one and i feel like it's a shame. Conflicts can still happen naturally without needing to undermine his character growth during the first 3 seasons & movie 1.
That being said, the positives of this movie is definitely the dynamic btwn Ali & Alicia which i think was long overdue, but a great welcome none the less.
Scores and music were great, although i feel it can't beat the first movie with how much more impactful & memorable it was.
Voice acting is amazing. And i appreciate the casting for the main villain of this movie. Superb choice.
Lastly, that DAMN CLIFFHANGER really left me feeling frustrated this time around. The first movie left on a great note and wrapped up everything nicely while this one...just leaves you hanging.
PLEASE I NEED THE NEXT MOVIE TO COME OUT FAST BECAUSE THIS IS KILLING ME INSIDE.
That said, still a really great movie. I really want to watch it again if i can somehow go by myself and not bring my kids along so that i can focus and appreciate the movie in it entirety but there's no showtime during school hours 😭
Overall, i hope this movie and franchise continues to be a huge success. Will continue to support until Ali's journey ends...

If you're someone like me who feels intimidated by the amount of episodes or chapters the original manga and anime of One Piece has (which is over 1000+ btw), then the amount of 8 episodes the first season of this live action has should be alot more easily digestible.
The casts are spot on, the script is interesting and quirky, the sets are amazing, the music is immersive. I never thought a live action One Piece could be THIS good.
The fact that the original author of One Piece, Eichiro Oda is heavily involved in the production of this live action should have been a good sign, but it's still so hard to imagine a wacky goofy series such as One Piece would be able to be translated well into the real world. So this definitely was a pleasant and much welcome surprise.
Gotta give props to Matt Owens, Steve Maeda & all the writers and staff for respecting the original source material because i can feel the LOVE AND CARE that has been put into this.
The casting has gotta be my favorite part of this live action. From the straw hats crew, to the marines, and villains, almost everyone was casted perfectly (not so sure about Ben Beckmann but i guess we'll see if he makes another on screen appearance in the future).
I don't know how many seasons the live action will get but i hope they can get as many as it deserves.

I have loved the original animated show and was quite looking forward to this live action since the casting seemed miles better than the 2010 movie.
After finishing 8 episodes i have come to a conclusion that while it is indeed better than the movie and it's a pretty decent show, it has ALOT of room for improvements.
While Dallas Liu gave an outstanding performance as Prince Zuko, sadly Gordon Cormier & Kiawentiio as Aang & Katara gave the weakest performance out of the whole cast and that's probably due to their lack of experience or the lack of good directing. It's clear they needed more time and guidance on how to deliver their lines and emotions and this was where i thought the show needed improvements the most because these two characters are the heart of the series. I hope their performance will get better if this show gets a second season.
The are some things that were added to the live action that i thought were great, while there were some things that i thought didn't needed the budget and screentime that could have gone to other more important things. In my opinion the director should choose wisely on where the budget needs to go and what deserves more screentime.
The fight choreographies and editing could use some improvements as well. There are times the fight scenes feel slow or not as intense due to the editing. Visual effects were pretty great.
Overall, i did quite enjoy this season despite its shortcomings. The potential is there and i hope they will get better in future seasons to come.
