Some claim that this episode is like a kids version of Black Mirror by Disney. Some say there's no social commentary or message. What are you people on? This episode carries all the hallmarks of the series.
I'd say that without Miley Cyrus (who's excellent in her role, btw), the average would be at least 1 point higher. It's really sad that people let their prejudice come in the way of enjoying something.

After the disappointment of Striking Vipers, we get a quality episode with Smithereens. This is classic Black Mirror, easy to relate to, palm-sweatingly intense and tear-inducing. The UK setting brings in some of the lost atmosphere. It seems more real for us Europeans at least. But it's not all that, mostly it's the story itself. And the heartfelt little touches here and there.

A Black Mirror episode with no unpredictable twists or haunting themes? The familiar atmosphere and the original premise of the show are still there but not much more is left. The storyline is a bit dull and generic, for Black Mirror at least.
Stylistically everything's well done as always. Acting is solid and the dialogue contemporary enough to make the characters seem real. Despite the repetition, this episode wasn't too boring to keep one entertained for the whole hour. However, it's definitely not worth another look.
