Cinematic brilliance!
Kantara: Chapter 1 emerges as a remarkable prequel that aspires to expand the mythic universe of its predecessor, and in large parts it succeeds with cinematic brilliance. From the very first frame, the film demands your attention with striking visuals, immersive production design, and a sense of mythic gravity that few Indian films attempt. The direction by Rishab Shetty displays a confident command over tone and scale - one moment deeply rooted in folklore and the next rising into epic confrontation.
What elevates this film is the acting supremacy by everyone on screen. Rishab Shetty, juggling the dual roles of actor and director, brings understated intensity and gravitas to Berme, giving us a hero formed of humanity and myth. Rukmini Vasanth, in her well-written role, delivers emotional depth, holding her own in scenes of confrontation and vulnerability. Gulshan Devaiah as the antagonist brings fire and menace. Even among the ensemble, every actor feels fully committed - no weak link.
The film's direction is ambitious and often audacious. The climactic sequences, in particular, linger in memory long after the credits roll - they are visceral, electrifying, and visually arresting. As one review put it, "the film will win us over with its standout interval and climax portions, divine elements, jaw-dropping visuals, and mind-boggling VFX." The second half truly "works like magic," redeeming any sluggishness in earlier stretches.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is a bold, stirring journey - a film that marries spectacle and soul. Its flaws are forgivable in the face of the sheer cinematic brilliance on display and the acting supremacy by everyone involved. In sum: a powerful mythic endeavor and a worthy addition to the Kantara saga.

This is not 1980s where one waits for weeks to view the next episode. A criminal thriller series with such a staggered release makes the viewing experience less interesting. Wonder who takes this decision to release one episode per week! Probably it's someone who doesn't want the series to be a major hit. Major let down to the lead actor who is so amazing and single-handedly carrying the series. This doesn't feel like a crime thriller but rather a ekta Kapoor serial where every week the story progresses so slowly .
A series which could have been an awesome thriller is a snooze fest now !! Clearly the marketing team have no clue what the audience need.

A masterpiece showcasing our traditions! Well paced movie and keeps you on your toes throughout ... it would be a shame if this movie doesn't win all the awards out there .. hats off to the main leads acting especially in the last 20 min. Gives you goosebumps in certain scenes .. the makeup and back ground music is another level .. proud to watch another South Indian movie made so well !
