It looks to me like a script that Mike Leigh would have rejected as too lame and unfunny to consider? I appreciate Kathleen Parkinson has to pay her mortgage, but what a come down from the IT Crowd. I would rather stare at a house brick for 28 minutes than be subjected to this dire dross. I tried i honestly did, but i did not laugh or even chuckle once, it's reliance and obvious attempts at creating some kind of farcical situations were doomed to failure, as they tried to clutch at withering straws of pathetic dialogue and obvious lines. Back to Father Ted and Alan Partridge for me. If this is classified as humour........we are all doomed?
I only watched this due to Tina Fey and Steve Carrel's involvement.... I really wish i had not bothered? I Got as far as Episode 4, and then i could not take anymore. It is cliched, weak and pointless, and contribute's very little, apart from all the lovely holiday destinations that the cast and crew managed to wangle? Is this really the best that Fey and Carrel can come up with? Lame predictable dialogue, and vacuous situations, do not an entertainment make. Sorry, but this just an excuse to hang out with some buddies, make some extra dollars, and indulge themselves on a nice vacation. Sad and predictable middle class nonsense.
This is without doubt the slowest most laborious series i have ever tried to view? Episode after episode crawling along to portray a story that could have been told in 2 Instalments? There is some talent and good acting, but everything takes soooooooo long to be explained. I just do not have the time or energy to lock in to a story that that makes a snail look like an F1 car? I tried, I mean really tried to stick with it but i began to cease caring and eventually gave up. I might have a look at series 2 to see if it has learnt it's lesson, and has injected a little pace in to the next story, but i am not holding my breath?
