I truly had no expectations and had read zero reviews of this film. It was the only movie playing after I finished shopping.
It was thoroughly enjoyable and for the most part engrossing. I like how it told the story from different viewpoints. I feel it added to the suspense and storytelling. I also enjoyed the performances (Brolin and Garner are excellent) and I appreciated that the film relied on creepiness and tension rather than jump scare after jump scare.
I smell a sequel might be on the horizon!
I'd give this a solid 7.6.

This "finale" had its moments of tension but overall it just felt clunky and rushed.
They tried for some emotional heft but it fell flat and just didn't land.
The forced teen drama aspects are tedious and don't ring true and tend to suck the life out of every scene. They don't feel real, they feel like filler instead of actual character nuance and development.
Overall this season finale ressembles season two, sort of lifeless, not very engaging (except for two episodes) and devoid of good writing and storytelling. Plus Ellie has been turned into an unlikable character recently which drags the series down.
For a show that took two years to deliver a second season, it's odd that it feels so slapdash and not aligned with the quality of season one.
The finale was ho hum and utterly forgettable. I might have to watch season one in order to rid myself of the bad taste of this season.

Look, I get ending a series, especially one as dark as this one, is incredibly hard but this finale (and this season) was forgettable.
The pace was off, the musical montages were tedious and the redemption arcs were not convincing at all, in fact they felt cheap and not aligned at all with previous seasons.
I know this episode wanted to deal with closure but it does it so clumsily and in an unconvincing way with a pace that lulled the viewer to sleep instead of trying to draw the viewer in. What the writers thought was emotional heft felt lightweight and slapdash.
In the last few seasons this show has suffered from bad writing and this last episode is no exception.
