I don't like how some reviews claim racial stereotypes, why? Because the captors are Black? So if they were white, no issue, right? Does the fact that we cannot portray Black race as anything but heroic characters not also racist but also untrue because people of low character and morals come from all races/genders. I'm convinced that the negative people, on Twitter/news outlets, don't want equality they want to elevate certain race/gender/political affiliations, at the detriment of others.
Anyway, slow build, I didn't like how the music and sound effects could be louder than vocal audio. The songs were really nicely chosen to set the tones. The scene were the father first start searching for his daughter while she's experiencing her first day of "work" is heartbreaking and they did the scene well to evoke emotion. This movie is scary, they were able to cover many issues and talking points involved in this crime. The acting was good, so-so from the mother, I thought she was a weak link.

Acting is so-so from the adults, the children's acting is poorly done. Honestly, I found the script lacked complexity and depth within the scenes. The sequence of events are apathetic and disconnected. Good camera work, that's about it in regard to any positive comments.
Incredible acting from the little boy, some of the best I've ever seen. The story is scary, the horrors little Andrew had to suffer makes this story terrifying. There was good acting all around but incredible acting from the actor who plays Andrew.
