Gripping and paced well, moves along with brisk and brutality. Fixes all the issues I had with Saint Maud being a hollow saddening horror by not being horror at all. Thank god for filmmakers who don't pigeonhole themselves into one single corner. All this works in spite of Kirsten Stewart, an actress who I cannot resonate with. Maybe in the hands of a director known for character work and not this poppy horror house Rose Glass resides, but the jury is more than out on twilight girl. Poster magnet Katy O'Brian is safe though!
Its biggest roadblock is probably to do with budget, because it is small in scale and calmly made, despite some of the literal giant stuff happening. It doesn't disembody the senses as much as it clearly wants to. A24 can often shoot its own foot with their approach to maximalist storytelling done via minimalist means.
