Ok there are some positives to this film: the cinematography is wonderful, the cast are all doing their best with the material that they are given, and, in fairness to Daisy Ridley she is vastly improved from her performance in The Force Awakens. The problems all arise from the abysmal script. There are completely misjudged attempts at humour, which are injected at the worst possible moments, gaping plot holes and a complete lack of respect for the characters. Don't bother

The words to describe this are "lazy" and "perfunctory". I wonder if the good reviews have even watched this, since it is unworthy of such praise. I have no problem with the idea behind the film but it fails to be the silly OTT project that it aspires to be. The acting is ( I'll be generous) variable, but that may be because director Jem Garrard makes zero effort. Disappointing
