  • Loved season 2!

The negative reviews mostly have to do with people not understanding the genre. I personally loved the dark comedy/thriller mix and put it up there with other genre-bending shows like Beef, Russian Doll, end of the f***ing world, dead to me, etc.. if you liked any of those you'll enjoy this.

Binged seasons 1 & 2 over the weekend and 2 is definately tighter and slicker looking with more character development outside just the two leads (S1 gives BBC and S2 gives Netflix, no disrespect). There's also a Kerry & Curtain cameo which really made me laugh and I usually find crossovers a bit cliche.

Both seasons the writing is hilarious though, Daisy and the kid who plays Ollie are brilliant. In terms of British TV I think this show really pushes the envelope.

  • Can we cancel cliche 80s rip offs yet?

It's like the writers watched every John Hughes movie and tried to awkwardly piece together the best bits. Prom? Check. Getting up to mischief in detention? Check. Lazy love triangle? Check. Some scenes have even recreated famous shots, which comes off as a gimmick rather than a homage.

It's made by the creators of stranger things, which shows. Unfortunately though, that 'vague 80s' setting isn't as fresh as it was in 2016, and without a decent storyline there's nothing really holding it together.

The actors are either not great, or have been given no room to play with their characters - leaving every interaction feeling awkward and painfully scripted.

    Watch an 80s classic instead.

  • Really important message - slightly confusing delivery

The content of this documentary is great. Fantastic interviews with so many powerful women in Hollywood, it's fascinating to hear from everyone from Shonda Rhimes to Merck Streep about the state of Hollywood for women.

The editing, however, is extremely confusing. Rather than tell one linear story, you get a grab bag of clips and sound bytes that I can only describe as being like a very long trailer.

Also, when the credits rolled at the end and it came up with a man's name as the director I actually laughed out loud. At one point the film literally instructs anyone working in the film industry to take risks and hire female crew. It splashes shocking statistics across the screen showing how few films are directed by females, and all the contributors being interviewed are attesting that "it's not that hard to just find qualified women to do these jobs". To hear a film tell us exactly what needs to be implemented, but then not even be able to implement that on their own movie... took some of the wind out of my sails
