Mona has just moved to a new job after experiencing a destructive relationship. She is emotionally distanced from people. We soon find her involved in a repetition compulsion to deal with childhood trauma, as exemplified by and adult crushing the head of a kitten she found in the field. Eventually she "acts out" her internalized aggression by killing someone and eventually enters into a relationship that allows her an identification with the aggressor of her infantile internalized life. Masterfully depicted by the director with a Hoppereswue perspective.
