I watched this when it originally came out, but it got so crazy that I didn't finish it. I'm rewatching now and have made it to season 7 so far, and it's even more ridiculous than I remember.
Every episode is completely predictable. The plot is repeated over and over - Harvey, Mike or Louis make a big promise to a client, then something they should totally have foreseen happens to screw everything up, then everyone lets their personal baggage affect all their professional decisions and they act like spoiled children, then in the end they all end up having to apologize to each other for being jerks and half the time the cases don't even end well. All the characters have gross emotional problems and questionable morals, but somehow I get manipulated into thinking they're not that bad. But they're all so bad.
The writing is not good. To get around network profanity rules, they say "goddamn" and "s@#$ the bed" about 50 times in each episode. Who says "s@#$ the bed" in real life? Also, they're living it up like Mad Men constantly breaking out the booze in the office for all situations and doing personal things all day instead of working. How is this supposed to be one of the most reputable law firms in New York?
Why am I finishing this show? Because I'm stubborn and I want to be done with it. If you can stop yourself at about season 3, you may enjoy this. After that it's just wild.

I am the target demographic for this show. I love sci-fi and dance shows, but this is so much more than that. It's a show about self-expression in a repressive society, especially for people who feel misunderstood and marginalized.
I came across this because Hulu created a category for shows with black lead characters for Black History Month. Hip hop music and dance developed as a counter-culture as a way for African Americans to share their experience through art. So much of Black culture has grown out of art and has influenced society and popular culture. This show is an innovative way to continue this legacy, and I love it.
People who have rated this poorly do not have the ability to understand the cultural significance of Black artistic expression and how it transcends genres. African Americans are historically underrepresented in sci-fi, and there is always criticism of and resistance to changes to the status quo, even in art. Sci-fi is innovative by nature, and this show is the definition of innovative.

I can't get the time back that I spent watching this movie. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and it never did. Every character was completely one dimensional and the plot was boring and went nowhere. The acting was mediocre at best. I can't believe people actually like this movie.
