I wanted to like this movie, but its really bad. Good movies you remember the next day or you want to see them again in the future. I want to pretend i never watched it at all. Who wrote the bad script. First they start of giving small glimpses of beatlejuice which would have worked but then they show low energy beetlejuice causing no trouble and really nothing to worry about. Then we have his x that they build up being scary as much as they can only to wash out in the end wihout even a fight. Then another plot with the grandaughter meeting a ghost and getting scammed. My biggest no was the recreation of the daylight come song but they tried to d9 it for the wedding scene. It was horrible. I think Keaton was the only one matched the lip syncing. It was 5 minutes of awful. I think this could have been a good movie. One way make it a little darker. Much less beetlejuice but have him give some energy when he is there. There should be some build up before he is released. I dont blame the cast it was the script. Keaton cant pull off a high energy beetlejuice for the whole movie. It was easy in the original because it was short bursts. A lot of people like this movie..which to me more scary than any movie. This is exactly why the 80s movies are so rewatchable. There is a simple plot and they didnt vere off into five other plots at the same time. This absolutely destroyed any chance for a part 3. I am still waiting for the sequel..that was not it. I will forget that even happened.
First off i loved the original and if i hadnt seen the original i'd have no idea of the plot or characters of this movie. It was literally a few words and then more singing. Zero character developement so the audience just has to go off of the original movie. I'm not why the ratings are so high and as high as the original..doesnt make sense to me i wouldnt give it 2 stars. The actors didnt do a great job of acting it was just like they were going through the motions and obviously it was all done in one take. I didnt expect greatness from the movie but i didnt expect it to be this bad. The original is a movie that you can rewatch any rainy day..this one is hard to watch even once. A lot of hate but if your going to make a remake of a great movie you cant just "watch me dance and sing" the entire movie to fill in all the gaps and poor acting. Imagine this movie if the original was never made..i doubt anyone would even watch it and it would make little to no sense at all.
I'm giving it 3 stars because it doesnt have bad acting..just no direction. Its all over the place..after several episodes you just want to turn it off and not think about it ever again.
