For a show that prided itself on ingenuity and blazing a new trail in television, in the end it turned out to be just a big cop out, catering to the same audience that watches American network television.
Don't bother with the final episode, I am going to tell you what happens. Jon, Dany, Tyrion, Arya and Sansa are sitting in the Seinfeld diner. They are arguing about whether real chili can be made with ground turkey. The building shakes and the lights flicker. Camera pans to the door, which is slowly opening. Camera pans back to the booth. Lights flicker, again, and again. Tyrion shouts, "I am the master of my domain". Jon smiles, knowingly. Fade to black...
So I have read many of the reviews here and have to say this right up front--What's up with those of you who complain about plot holes? Games of Thrones is fantasy, it is one gigantic plot hole. You haven't noticed that before? If everything happened the way you think it should, well, there wouldn't be any reason watch. And yet, you watched.
I liked this episode a lot and look forward to the final three. My only complaints are these: (1). As good as it was, it seemed about fifteen minutes too long. (2). Many parts of the battle scenes were too dark, making it hard to decipher what was going on.
