I was actually surprised that this was released in 2010. It feels more like a late 90s early 2000s film. It's bland and lacks any depth. Reeves proves once again that hes one of the worst actors of all time, except this time the script doesn't save him. Farmiga is excellent, as always, Caan is just ok. I watched because of the cast and the fact that I've never heard of it. Not worth it though. It's definitely not a comedy. Not a heist movie. It has some semblance of romance I guess, but doesn't fit the romance genre either. With no identity and barely any direction, this film is void of anything interesting (aside from Farmiga, who I kind of feel bad for her after this).
Don't let the big name cast (writer and director included) fool you into high expectations. This is a dull and lazy attempt at a National Treasure. The cookie-cutter style script feels like it was written by ChatGPT. The dialogue is unbearable at times which is why I call it insulting. The audacity to market this drab with a high profile cast and then under deliver so immensly makes it pretty obvious that everyone involved in this project knew this was just a "show up for the paycheck" kind of job. The sheer cheesiness would have been better suited for a kids adventure movie with a little silly comedy mixed in. However, this movie just fell flat at every turn. The irony is that Fountain of Youth steals your time and you can't get it back.
