Netflix's The Sandman is a great adaptation of the original comic-books (please don't call them graphic novels, they're comics).
Sadly this adaptation also fails to deliver the most important and strikingly emotional stories from the comics. The fate of the two angels in Hell, The Inn at the end of the world, Barbie's story, and many more.
I understand they've skimmed down the story to the bare minimum and essential to tell the fate Dream. However with it, they have disregarded precisely what the comics are all about, the stories of Morpheus and his Realm.
Hopefully, somebody else will have another go in 30 years.
That been said, the cast is spectacular, the photography is beautiful, and the whole atmosphere captures perfectly the tone and feel of the original comics.
I see some reviews complain about it being slow or too elaborate, ehem, The Sandman is proper mythology and a very deep family drama, not another one of Snyder's mental puke. It actually requires you to THINK.

Superman is a film that most of all understand not only its main character but also his world.
His greatest power is not how physically strong he is but instead how good of a person he is. Also the director/writer understand that Superman cannot exist in reality. There's not need for it, he's a mythical figure that is supposed to inspire us to be better persons.
The pace is quite fast and from the moment you start watching the movie, it goes in crescendo.
The characters have depth, every character has a reason as to why the exist, and most importantly, everything that occurs it does because it moves the plot forward (take a note of this Snyder).
The humour in it - unlike other people have suggested. Is a mixture of Donner's and Gunn's and really suits every character and situation.
The production design is beautiful, the suit looks far better than in any of the promotions and the CGI is pretty much flawless.
Is the film perfect? Maybe not, but is a fantastic start and a respectful and brilliant depiction of the father of all superheroes.
When Superhero films start to bore, who else would come to the rescue?
Superman.

This film is a love letter to vampire lore and the rich, wide-reaching history of African-American music. I'm writing this review the day after watching it, and I fancy there's a touch of Coen Brothers-style humour in there - think O Brother, Where Art Thou, but with vampires.
Every single character is bursting with depth, including the main villain, who just so happens to be one seriously cool-looking vampire.
I won't give too much away, but it's been years since I've seen vampires look this cool, this sexy, and this downright terrifying.
Yes, the first half does drag a little, but trust me - it's absolutely worth the wait.
If you've no knowledge of blues music, African-American history, or vampire mythology, many of the references may pass you by. But if you're well-versed in any of these, you're in for a real treat. You'll love it - very, very much.
