I don't know what's up with all these negative reviews because Season One isn't half bad. If you're looking for The Bridges of Madison County or Out of Africa quality writing (or A Midsummer's Night Dream level of costuming) then this ain't your jam cupcake. IF you're looking for something vampirey to keep ya occupied, then this show is just fine for that! I am glad I looked past the bad reviews and dove in. I like vampire stuff and this was interesting enough. I'm looking forward to watching Season 2 & 3 next.
Yikes. It wouldn't be so bad if they had some truth in their advertising and just admitted that this is one long, religious promotion for THEIR perceived solution to addiction. So little facts and much propaganda in this thing. The writers of this show obviously have zero use for open mindedness and honesty......um, No. Just No.
I've recently found this 1981 BBC mini-series on Amazon and was pleasantly surprised. It's engaging, entertaining and a well done period piece. It doesn't have any of the 1970's-80's CHEESE factor that can sometimes be found in these older shows. For me, it was reminiscent of UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS or THE DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET (two of my favourites). It reminded me of being young and snuggling into the couch with my Aunt or Grandma to watch the aforementioned BBC shows. This series is definitely worth your time!!!
