Given that it was recent history when this came out, we knew the story line. Taking a docudrama approach to this was one way to go. A straight documentary would be another.
Going through the telling of the story through the dramatized eyes of close participants, we witness some bumbling decision making by officials and politicians which could have made things worse, some bravery by the blue and the FBI/Feds constantly butting in. This we all knew.
Things that bring this "drama" down so severely is bad acting. The worst of which is John Goodman's attempt at bad-assery Bostonian. It just doesn't fly...it drops hard like a lead balloon. Wahlberg does an admirable job as a cop caught in the middle of it all. But Goodman...stinkaroo.
With the interview POVs at the end, it crosses from docudrama into a more Netflix cheap documentary feel. "We're better for having gone through this...we're stronger" kind of sentiment. That's fine, but I would have been really POd if I'd paid money to see that.
It could have been much better.

A 30 year old possible murder, a conspiracy fueled by dark characters at the highest levels. Did a former president get away with murder? Just how far does the rabbit hole go?
Well, set up in such a way as to get the viewer committed to the whole set of 4 episodes, by the time you get into episode 2, you start to question the veracity of the claims being made. You begin to see that the "experts under siege" by the government have a thread of some truth and a whole bunch of crazy at the same time. You're left holding a bag with evidence of a death that most likely WAS a suicide, some government shenanigans that stole intellectual property from an up and coming software company and the parties involved were some of the shadiest of characters you can imagine.
IF you have 4 hours to dedicate to Alex Jones-style conspiracy...by all means give it a go. If you're seeking answers to the questions asked at the beginning of the show...steer clear. The answers are NOT provided.
