  • A movie about Texas filmed entirely in New Mexico!!!

Seriously - they couldn't find any wide open spaces in Texas to film? These clowns should be run out of the industry. The geography was all over the place and the scenery rarely matched the location it was supposed to represent. If you watched this and thought you saw the "real Texas" ... all you saw was a load of Hollywood b.s. I won't even waste my time on that alleged "plot." The only reason I gave this clunker even one star was that it had Tom Hanks in it and that has to count for something.

  • 1:48 I'll never get back

"Reflections" is one of those movies that you continue watching because you think that the laws of probability say it must get better eventually.

    But it never does.

I do, however, wholeheartedly bestow upon it one award. Marlon Brando gave a meticulously sustained performance of what is unquestionably the absolutely, positively, unequivocally WORST southern accent ever committed to celluloid. I was born and raised here, as have been all of my ancestors going back to 17thC Virginia, so I know whereof I speak on the subject of drawls. The oft maligned (deservedly so) and relentlessly uneven Clairee Belcher of Olympia Dukakis is pure moonlight and magnolias in comparison to Brando's tragically tortured and execrably enunciated Maj. Penderton.

One really ought not to require subtitles to understand an actor who is (allegedly) speaking the same language as the rest of the cast.

The truly sad thing is, Brando was only marginally less unintelligible when gargling in his normal accent. How anyone can consider him passable, much less one of the greatest actors in the history of the cinema is completely incomprehensible to me. I realize that this is heresy to some, so feel free to vent your spleens. I couldn't care less about engaging.

  • Trust me - God has a sense of humor

To all of those upset by this show's humorous take on all things Heavenly - lighten up. Do you really think the Lord doesn't have a sense of humor? In the first place, He created man in His own image (Gen. 1:27) - meaning if we are capable of humor, so is He. If Moses' word isn't definitive enough for you, let me tell you a little story. I used to have a Great Pyrenees, a 150 lb sheepdog, who was allergic to 21 different substances (I had him tested). Twenty of the 21 things were environmental; mostly plant-based. Want to take a guess what that 1 other thing was? What's the absolutely, positively, very last thing on the face of this tired old planet to which a sheepdog could possibly be allergic? Yep. You guessed it... Wool. Never let anyone tell you that God doesn't have a sense of humor.

Given the endless parade of mayhem, excess, zealotry, barbarism, bigotry, intolerance and atrocities invariably perpetrated by men who have historically claimed to be doing so in service to the Lord, and taking into account the feelings of displeasure, disappointment and anger in Him these must surely engender... do you still seriously think He's going to waste that much time getting upset about a silly half-hour sitcom?

Is it irreverent? Yes. Is it time to call up Torquemada out of retirement? No. If it offends you, there's a simple enough solution - change the channel.
