'He-Man: The Next Generation' would probably have been a better title.
The beloved characters are there although all of their backstories and personas are re-imagined.
It seems like a great show for the intended age group, with a lot of "coming of age" and a bit of character development.
The humor is decent and it doesn't seem at all preachy (as so many newer shows for kids does).
To sum it up, older fans of He-Man will NOT find a re-skinned version of the legendary classic. This is it's own thing, a newer and different take, and it would have benefitted from underlining that fact with a more fitting title (like 'Star Trek' and 'TNG') in my opinion.

From choice of filter, cameras, angles and editing, to the acting, setting and story.
It's so bad that my cringe reaction was delayed out of pure disbelief.
Why such good actors would want to put their name to this rubbish is beyond comprehension.
The direction is a bland, predictable and and lacks any noteworthy scenes. Sure, if it works, it ain't stupid; but this just doesn't work.
The "modern day ancient britain" just isn't cutting it, when you've got a cross between every century, from 1000 AD to the 1980s (one specific scene where you get a pair of white tennis socks making up 15% of the screen shot, along with a pair of dockers to compliment them....).
The effects would've been cutting edge in 1995, but since it's released in 2018 one wonders why the CGI looks like something that could be done on a $1500 PC.
Maybe, if the writing wasn't worse than a short story written by a 6th grader under threat of being grounded for a year, the movie could have been directed a bit better.
But with a storyline that is as cliché as a political speech; dialogue more cringy than Days of Our Lives; and a continuity in the scene development that would make a 4 year old on cocaine seem coherent, this is probably the worst movie of 2018 in proportion to it's budget (I'm sure there was some backyeard YouTube movies that had worse dialogue... well... sorta sure...)
