First of all, I hatef the camera look and feel of this movie. Then, once the actors started speaking, I was NOT engaged. This production seemed like a high school kid put it all together. The action was laughable and was not in the least anywhere realistic. And Tom Sizemore...he has been SO much better than this! I think he was just collecting a paycheck. The script was terrible -I watched this while cooking in my kitchen-I can't have missed much, and if I did, it was anything good(?) that may(?) have happened in this so-called movie. I'm hoping I saved someone time for not watching this turkey.
This was an interesting movie...nothing cutesy about the film. The awkwardness of the main character was real and painful. Annie, his "dating coach" was a real balance in helping Harold overcome his "15-year old ugly duckling" view of himself. I had a friend who could so relate to this film. I also really liked the chemistry between the two lead characters. That chemistry didn't feel forced or faked. Also, the side story between Annie and her older sister was credible and helped to keep my interest in their not-so-smooth relationship. All in all, the script was realistic, and, again, not fake or forced. I enjoyed the whole film.
The first 15 minutes and musical score had me interested. After that, agonizingly slow, doesn't even cover it. OK, so it's low budget but I honestly thought it'd be worth watching a "B-" grade movie. It wasn't. The acting and script left so much to be desired. I actually watched it until it had about 50 minutes to go...losing more interest. Then I skipped ahead until there was only 30 minutes left. JHC! THAT time left was slower thsn ever!! As I titled my review, yeah, I certainly could have knitted a sweater. At least I would have had a positive outcome. I did not enjoy this "movie"(? Such as it was). Don't waste your time.
