This movie had to be good because after VHS 94 I thought this series should die off so I didn't expect anything from this and went into it with a pessimistic vibe, I was wrong though as right from the first story about the trick or treaters getting invited into the strange house with the arm protruding out the front door with a bowl of candy I knew this was gonna be solid you can usually sense right off the bat when something is gonna suck but thankfully it just got better as the segments went on.

My favorite story was probably the second with the subtitles about the haunted building with the phone that wasn't connected and the investigators, this had a great build up and was told very well it was great. There really wasn't one bad story imo I liked them all, as I said this surprised me and I'm glad because I was a fan of the original VHS and part 2 so it's nice to see another great entry instead of the idea becoming stale.

I saw this advertised recently and decided to check it out based on the actors and Mel Gibson who I like. So I will say right away that my expectation was that this would be more serious and without a comedy aspect but to my surprise it had a not so serious feel to it, the story is pretty basic so there's no having to focus really closely in case something is missed. The entire film is shot in basically one area there are some twists for sure and definitely action sequences also really enjoyed the ending which a lot of films get wrong but they nailed that the acting was good especially from Wahlberg and it was nice to see Grace having remembered him from that 70s show, all in all I'd give this a 5.5 which is funny considering that was the imdb score lol not bad but far from great.
