  • Doesn't get the small details right

The whole film was spoilt for me at the end, when it showed a journey in a 1970s railway carriage. Many heritage railways could have produced a 1930s carriage if asked. Instead the producer seemingly thought any old carriage would do. It also akes me wonder about the boats depicted and whether they were genuine 1930s models or not. I think big budget films such as this one have a duty to ensure the"props" are as authentic as possible. I am aware that most people don't know the difference between a 1930s railway carriage and a 1970s carriage, but frankly speaking that's not the point. Authenticity matters.

  • Not the best

Russell Lewis's characters are just not credible enough, apart from the farcical plot. I want to relax on a Sunday evening with a detective drama where I'm not constantly wondering what is happening, with characters that look and sound like people you might come across on a daily basis. You got that with Morse. You still get it with Vera. But this? The whole scenario was a joke - even the hotel itself (where was the dust, where were the rats?) Sorry but the show now needs to bow out gracefully.

  • Complicated

Very hard to follow. Probably very ingenious but I wish they'd keep it a bit simpler -too many characters and confusing storyline 'whose csr/whose keys and oh wait- it was only half of the car! Needed to watch it twice and occasionally gowing back to recap.
