I was really excited to see a documentary on one of America's greatest athletes. What I saw, when they occasionally showed his accomplishments, was a great athlete, maybe the best ever? The rest of the documentary was spent on reminding white America how bad people we were (and are?). If Jim were around I think he would have said get off the sociology and tell people what I did out there. Instead, it was just another excuse to grind the axe on how terrible we were (are?). What a waste.
Pitt is Canadian intelligence officer coupled with French spy on a foreign mission. The spy is played by Marion Cotillard, who blew all other actors away in Midnight in Paris. The two get involved following their mission and return to Paris. The beginning of this movie is magical, as the two go through the steps on their mission. The back half is well performed but less gripping than the start. Very very well acted and produced.
Say, North By Nortwest and Psycho. Which is not a bad thing. To me, there's too much hanging around by Cary in this one. He seems old and tired; he is best when he is stressed and on the move. Grace Kelly is an average counter-part, somehat blown away by the coquettish Brigitte Auber. Worth an occasional ride on Cary and Auber alone.
