Eric is a different type of "Who done it," based show. It starts off very quickly and it leaves you just enough time to think you've got a grasp on everything, when you actually don't at all. I must first say that the directing, editing, cinematography, acting, and even the music choices are pure perfection. You instantly feel it's New York City 1985 without being over fed that it's New York City 1985. This movie assumes you're intelligent and therefore doesn't dumb itself down for the viewer. So keep up, as it's a whirlwind of a tale and it's not slowing itself down for the viewer. Watched twice and the magic of the show is that you are really given everything in the first 12 minutes. Not one wasted bit of dialogue or scenery happens in those first 12 minutes. It's a tough limited mini-series to watch as it takes on very difficult issues, so don't go in thinking you're walking out of this unmoved. But this limited series is worth every second, as if it's an actual time capsule into what New York circa 1985 was really like. Highly recommended. I hope it wins tons of awards as this truly belongs up there with the very best limited-series out right now.
While I'm writing this I'm currently on episode 5. This show is hilarious, keeps you thinking and honestly a delight. Ted Danson is brilliant as usual. The other actors, engaging and fascinating in this "Who Done It," series. I'm both equally involved with the crime aspect as I am the human aspect of loneliness. Each of us, no matter of our age, brings something new to the table. I feel the warmth of the message with out all the sappiness. The comedy is woven in beautifully that the laughs are genuine. I hope this show continues on the ride I'm truly enjoying so very much. Bravo to the writers, to the actors and to the directors who have made a gem of a show.
I was all in for the ride. Mystery death. Mystery big house. Mysterious things going bump in the night. Tunnels in the basement that lead to to nowhere (maybe that was a casual hint, darn it), unsettling new town and creepy next door neighbors.
So many clues, like unnerving photographs, missing cell phones, contact lenses, a broken staircase, Olympic Running times... THAT MEANT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
This movie is like riding a huge rollercoaster all the way to the very top then told to get out, take the stairs all the way down and expecting you to have enjoyed the ride!
Epic, and I don't use this word lightly, FAILURE! (And not even in a fun way)
