You would think a movie that relies heavily on computer technology would be outdated after 26 years, but this one isn't. I read a few reviews on here that claim this movie isn't funny. For those people, you obviously live life with a stick up your @$!. I'll bet Gary Cole relishes his role as the jerk boss Bill Lumbergh. Cole has starred on NCIS in recent years and in one of those episodes, he made a reference to TPS reports to his investigative team. I've watched Office Space at least a dozen times. It never gets old. Every character is meaningful to the story, even the fat lady/office receptionist who passes out Lumbergh's birthday cake. That scene was expected, but hilarious when she tells Milton. "Let's pass it along and make sure everyone gets a piece." I feel sorry for those who don't get the relatable absurdity of this movie.
For years, I always wondered how Buddy got back on the team in the middle of the season? Thanks to Youtube, there is an explanation as to what happened from the director.
Buddy allegedly transferred to a rival school to play, but couldn't do it because of his love for Hickory. Also thanks to Youtube, I got to watch the deleted scene when Buddy asked Coach Dale about returning. The reason the scene was cut was to keep the movie to less than 2 hours which was a demand by the studio.
And despite this flaw, the rest of the movie is so good, Buddy's unexplained return within the movie, doesn't matter in order to appreciate the story.
I've probably watched this movie at least 20 times. And I will probably watch it at least a few more times. I just wish all the deleted scenes could be added. I believe the film would then approach 3 hours. I'm curious to know if the movie would seem a lot different.
