This story is about James Van Praugh an accessibility to communicate with the dead. The episodes present the beginning of how he became aware of and used his gifts to benefit others, including his early childhood and upbringing in the Catholic faith. He was discouraged as a child from admitting that he could actually communicate with the dead. The priests, teachers, and his father believed him to be "telling stories." As an adult, he was encouraged by one of his coworkers to visit a medium's session where the medium told him he was surrounded by the dead. Still unwilling to accept his ability for fear of being thought of as crazy, his coworker told him that he should use his abilities to benefit others. He later became involved with the police and helped identify and solve a series of murders involving young boys.
This show is just delightful. I love the character mix and can see many potential story arcs. If you haven't seen it, give it a chance.
Some very nice Christmas musical selections, traditional, modern and original. The extra narratives provided some interesting information.
Really enjoyed this performance, Danielle Brooks excels!
Loved the camera work in this episode. The opening shot itself tells a story. Was also surprised by a scene between de Cock and Buitendam regarding a needed approval signature on a form; a new procedure. Maybe Buitendam knows more than it seems. My favorite line, "You didn't ask." Something that frustrates all investigators when they find a witness knew something they didn't share.
This has to be my all-time favorite movie. Perhaps it appeals more as a Romance with supernatural undertones. The acting alone is not exceptional, but when you combine the story, actors, set and filming techniques....it's a winner.
I remember seeing it on television in 1971 and then again in the late 90's. It's really a shame that this movie does not get more air play or that it has never been released on VHS or DVD. With the release of "Meet Joe Black," the story line was somewhat resurrected. However, this remake doesn't compare with the 1971 version.
The original black and white version may appeal to some, but I really enjoyed the color version more. In fact, it wasn't until I saw the 1971 made for TV movie that I even heard about the book/play.
The story really makes you wonder, not so much about the romance, but what WOULD really happen if "Death" took a holiday.
