I'm just wondering if when this was filmed as a black and white movie, if they bothered to put bright green makeup on the Moon ladies. Nothing from the movie still photos or trailer indicate any odd color. In fact the photo from the poster or whatever shows natural skin tone.. Lots of odd situations and cheap sets going on here, from the cardboard control panels in the big square command center in the "missile". To the plants growing on the moon surface. Their spacesuits are simply scuba tanks attached to a flight-suit.. The story also has many plot holes and needs more back-story about the inventor of the "missile". This is another hard to rate film. I gave it a 3 simply for the production value, but for entertainment value it's close to a six. And the spider creature is the most horrific ever seen.
I could've given it 8 stars if it would've been a better print. What I watched on Prime almost made me want to turn it off. It seems almost all old films and TV have been masterfully cleaned up compared to what was available a couple decades ago. Specks, spots, jiggles, and fuzzy audio throughout this film were unexpected. Another review mentioned that the score didn't always match the action on screen. During one scene, for no reason, they decided to play some sci-fi alien Theremin type music. Very odd. The story, vintage scenery, and actors is what kept me watching and I'm happy to have seen it. A couple possible plot holes but no biggie.
I Love the 1880s
Who thought this was a good idea to combine interesting facts with lame-ass, non-humorous, pseudo-comedy? I really enjoyed the scientific information, and learned a few cool things, but the comedians were so so annoying, and added zero to the show. Thankfully, the show was over in 30 minutes since I could take no more. There was a narrator who did a fine job giving us the facts and good editing with photos and illustrations, and then the six or so "comedians" would take turns trying to be funny with "jokes" which were mostly adult oriented and should cause a parent to send their child to another room, instead of learning about science and historic events. Sad.
