The original Dominion tank police is one of the most amazing and outstanding productions in existence. Its was extremely disappointment no, heart breaking to see that it only lasted for 2 hrs in totality. However, the new series can't hold a candle to it and does not feature Buaku who was a major part of the former. It does not continue on the greepeace saga which the original left hanging and instead follows a different storyline. The animation in New Dominion Tank Police is no doubt, excellent, can't really make out if they used CGI or not but it actually looks far better than GITSAC. Its not as dark the older one and is actually quite bright, although not as vibrant. Most of the old voice actors have been retained and thats a major plus. The characters look slightly different though and thats a minus.
After the horrible part-3 of the series, which was highly embarrassing, made no sense and pure garbage when compared to Part-1 and Part-2, the fourth film makes a sincere attempt to put the franchise back on its feet. While this film certainly views as too abridged when compared to the actual events that happened in the book, the overall effort was quite decent. The acting has certainly become worse in some areas here and there. Ralphe Fiennes does'nt really seem to be sincere as he looks unthreatening and pathetic when playing Voldemort. Not scary at all. Even so, the overall effect of this movie was very good. Although it must be said that Part-4 itself is nothing compared to Part 1 and 2.
I don't really understand what the disappointment is all about? This movie falls under the genre of action and thats what it delivers from top to bottom. Were people perhaps expecting a drama? And people can also tell me how often do you get to see the Russians and spetsnaz special forces in realistic action? Sure they were vilified, mowed down easily by Rambo, mostly missed him but as the evil villains, they were highly effective in that role. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing but admiration for the Russian military. The main villain (Russian commander) was also a freaking brilliant actor. The movie did'nt use real Russian helicopter gunships, (they used French ones modified instead) but they were still effective. All in all, this is an utterly brilliant and unique film and I give it 10 stars. Best in the Rambo series.
