Strongly opinioned, but not overwrought to put my opinion down your throat (most of the time). I will give my opinion, but will not tell you to NOT see a movie like some of the other idiots here. I like all genres of movies.. even the ones that are considered 'chick flicks'. Yes, I am straight, 36 yrs. old, and I like damn near all genres of movies.. except Horrors (I prefer Suspense), Gore movies (totally F*cking senseless), movies about getting laid is the main plot (I find it old as the earth itself, I can go back to...hmmm....Porkys). Most foriegn films bore the hell out of me... watch the captions, miss the visuals of the movies...might as well listen to it on tape, cd, or radio..or just read the book....totally pointless. The biggest thing to me is... just because a movie was funny, DOES NOT MAKE IT A GOOD/GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! There are a ton of funny movies out there that are funny..like Clerks, really funny, but some of the worst acting I have ever seen. Most movies, that are comedies today, a stiff from the morgue can act better than some of these people. Even though, they were funny films.. it is called a script. Some of these comedies, I will wait for them to come out on Cable before I see them. I will not go to the theaters to see them, I will not rent, nor purchase them on DVD, or purchase them on PPV. Like Superbad. Looks like a movie that is all about getting laid... (yeah, yeah.. about two friends, with seperation problems, but what is the real main plot?!?!?!?...) YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boring. Dead. Old. I know 'sex sells', but come on. Well, if you like it, go for it. It is just not for me.
My favorite Genre of movies, is the movies that have many emotions in them. Examples: Forest Gump.. makes you laugh, mad, and sad. Then another, Mrs. Doubtfire. I like action movies, along as there is some good acting, a great script, and a decent director/producer behind it.. I will be happy. Favorite "behind it" guys: Martin Scorsese, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and a good number more. Favorite Actors: Sean Connery(Retired), Robin Williams, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Liotta, Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, and many more. Let me guess, you are probably saying to yourself, "WHAT!!!, all those guys are older, or retired"!!!!! Yep, yes sir that they are, it is called staying power. Not someone, who is a flash in the pan. If you want my favorite 'younger dudes' here they are: Matthew McConaughey, Josh Lucas, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin.. just to name a few.
Next favorite ACTRESSES (yes actresses, not actors..SUCKS, but catgorizing does have to exsist today).: Jodi Foster, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Basinger, Natalie Portman (I liked her it the The Professional), Glenn Close just to name a few of many... but realize something here that is way too damn common... just because an actress is beautiful, and/or she has had roles of being the sexy slut, Ms. Badass, or has shown some nudity.. DOES NOT MAKE HER A GOOD/GREAT ACTRESS. Lucy Liu, is a damn good actress, IF she is not acting the part of Ms. Badass. I loved her real, sweet role in Luck Number Slevin. I may be strange to you, but this who I am.. I say: you can tell how a person is by the movies they watch, and love. I am funny but cynical. Don't like it, you shouldn't worry... you will live on!!!

  • What the heck, really?!?!?!?!

This is one of those movies I will not say is good, nor bad. It is a very mediocre film. The cast is what, pretty much holds it together. I have surely seen better scripts, and story lines. The action scenes are decent. ...And, oh yeah....why would anyone freakin' care that Laurence Fishburne has gained weight??? Really?!?! That is pure, ignorant, moronic, delusional, immature reasons to not like a movie. Very petty. Get a life. It is really sad, to see that we, in general think like that. Larry is still a strong actor.

My overall reaction to this film, is to go see it as an 'early bird', Matinée, or wait for it on DVD.

  • Please, don't criticize what you don't know....

I am asking anyone who wants to go see this film, to PLEASE familiarize yourself of the storyline, and characters before you see it. It has a very deep story, very complex characters, and not for the soft-hearted. This story came from a comic novel. It us unlike the superheroes that you have heard so much about.

I ask you to either or both read the novel, or watch the DVD Watchmen: The Motion Comic. All 12 chapters are on the 2 disc set, and it will give you all the perspective of the movie, you will not be lost. OR, at the very least go to all the websites that are supporting the movie, and read of the main storyline, and characters.

I don't see how people can criticize something, so badly, that they nothing about. All they seen on the trailers was costumed people, and action sequences, and thought that it was going to entertain them. However, they did not see the big, huge letters on the screen pointing out it was from a graphic novel.

That is just my assessment, and opinion. I just hope folks heed it..to some degree. This is a very good story. Not a ton of action, but still very very good.
