I had avoided this thinking it was way overly hyped and was going to be stupid. I am a teacher and when I went back to school almost every single kid was talking about this movie. I gave in and turned it on with my little guy this weekend.
Let me tell you - absolutely blown away. The animation , the storyline , the message , the music , the character development on and on and on - what an absolutely great movie.
The songs are very good and instantly catchy work fantastic lyrics - what great singing and voice acting by all the guys and women in this. I am a fan - true fan of both "bands".
The overall message was fantastic- I mean really fantastic. On a surface level it's entertaining but on a deeper level it's powerful and important and applicable to all of us.
Really cannot compliment this enough. Totally worth your time for a variety of ages.

It's a feel good film based on the founding of a restaurant. It does not really need to be looked at deeper than that. Of course some story lines are embellished, details changed and timelines shifted to make it work. This is one where the spirit of the story just needs to win out- and it does. Overall it was too long and certain scenes probably should have been cut - the first 1:15 I would probably give this like a 5- but it finished so strong and so happy and left me feeling so hungry that it bumped it right up. Solid messages of hope and family and courage and grief- all tied in to make it something very enjoyable- even if it wasn't great.
Spent 20 min after looking at the real restaurant and menu and how to get reservations- a cool "based on a true story " with feel good vibes and very family friendly.

This had serious potential and some bright spots in there - but the middle section ( the actual assessment) was way too long and pushed the boundary so far it just felt gross. Not gross in a way where it makes you think- just gross and it was so gross the value went way down. Half of what was in the middle section would have been plenty- you proved your point now move on.
The concept was interesting and thought provoking, the acting was exemplary and the ending was quite good.
Some powerful questions that we should be asking but we didn't need the absolute gut churning scenes to make it happen.
