The series is well filmed, and well acted. Sadly, the dallas-goes-cowboy storyline and the everyone tougher than everyone else gets old really really fast. I understand this might be appealing to the US audience, but over here, solving every problem with aggression, guns and macho behaviour is somewhere between hilarious and boring.i wish the problems confronted in the series would go beyond hating people, shooting people, getting shot at and financial greed.
If this movie would have been an adaption for an older audience, I would have gotten more out of it. The silly made for kids humor isn't as captivating.
As it is, it is watchable, but do not expect world building. Something else than binary good or bad characters, with of course Dr. EvilNoGood as evil as it gets, would have been refreshing. If you are 12, or parents to someone who is, this is probably good as a family flick. It is deplorable though that nobody seems to make such for a more mature audience, especially given the source material.
I would wish though people wouldn't abuse the rating system in here, giving "its a fun little flick" (9 stars), "Please dont hate the movie (7 stars) and "It is not the godfather II" (7 stars). Your understanding of what is a great, or near perfect movie, seems to need honing. Average movie is average.

While a huge improvement over movies like Kampen om Narvik, it is obvious that this movie got rewritten several times and changed direction. While the movie still manages to have a grip on the audience in terms of suspense, some of its plot points do not hold up well. It seems the movie went from the idea of a captivating war movie to budget restraints, forcing the movie makers to focus on interpersonal differences between the captain and his crew. That is something i feel detracts from the story, and it also is writing that has been done to death in other movies like Crimson tide. All in all, if you want to see a bit of WWII action, watch this, but if you rather would like something more believable and historically more accurate, then watch Krigsseileren any day over this.
