Who wrote this? A 5 year old? It's seriously that bad. NONE of the character decisions make any sense. The only saving grace is the gorey SFX. But, seriously, it's like Supernatural but written by a monkey on dope or an AI with no sense of character coherence.
It's a continuos sensation of deja vu but with worse dialogues and interactions. The idea of the Mom/sidekick could work if it wasn't full of cliches and absurd decisions.
Very sad to see Kevin Bacon, a fine actor, working on this poor poor excuse for a TV show...
How did this get produced? Why no one hired proper screenwriters to rewrite the whole thing? At least it's a short season and short episodes.

It's sad that someone who gave us great movies 20 years ago, (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable...) writes now like this. A script filled with plot holes, cliché dialogues and one after another absurd situations.
The premise was interesting. I'll even buy into the unexpected 'hero' from Act II. But that's it... the rest is very poorly written.
It's infuriating the whole bread crumb explanations throughout the 1st act. Clumsy and cheap.
There are like 3 apparent endings... Then the real ending is just... so bad that I won't even spoil it for you.
Save yourself the time and watch something else instead of revisit some of his classics.

I do usually like Neil Gaiman's material. In occasions I love it. This is not the case, I'm afraid.
Shallow characters with 0 charisma. Plot holes everywhere with random choices and twists that simply make no sense, other than fitting a very predictable formula.
The way Crystal or Niko join the gang is ludicrous, to say the least. The interactions with the secondary characters (Witch, Crow, Cat King or Landlady) feel disjointed and hollow.
The universe rules fluctuate and there are so many 'deus ex machina' that I was flabbergasted to learn Gaiman was behind the scripts.
Other than some few background stories for the main characters, there's no real character arcs or storyline.
This could be so much better with a little screenwriting work. The actors are fine. The characters and the plots aren't.
