I agree with some of the comments made here, and disagree with others. For those of us who were looking for the usual Eddie Murphy, you will not find him here. While watching this movie on T.V., I went to IMDb to find out more. I saw that COMEDY was not one of the genres listed for this movie. At first, I thought that nobody had added it yet, that is until I saw the whole movie. I believe it may have been an attempt for Eddie Murphy to explore a serious character-role for a change. I think he did a great job!! Although he was not cracking us up with jokes and impersonations (but he did do a few on the phone to get important information), he was still entertaining to watch. Also, the political side of the story may not have been true-to-life, but it does give the laymen (and laywomen) an idea of some of the games the big-wigs play in the United States of Americow.
"Showdown in Ghost Town" a Scooby computer game is loosely based on this episode, I think. It starts out in a tavern which has a player-piano. It also has a mining car ride with hills, twists and turns. I am in my late 30's, and I still love watching these shows! My whole family loves Scooby! Sometimes, we have a Scooby marathon and watch the Scooby series shows and movies. I really hope that more Scooby shows and movies will be made in the future. I also agree with other viewers that Scrappy was an annoying character, and I am glad that the recent shows and movies have excluded Scrappy. The actors and actresses who have taken over the main characters' voice-overs have done excellent jobs at immitating the original cast members!
I love this episode! At the beginning of the show, you see a picture of the sisters as children, and they look as though they are not twins. Then, as young ladies, they look very similar, as though they are twins. The two actresses are not related in real life, but the casting crew did a good job picking them out. Also, the make-up and hairstyling crews did a good job making them look alike. Linda Purl as Charlene Matlock, who is 2 inches taller than Gail O'Grady, dresses up like the girls, looks very similar to them. Gail O'Grady was about 23 at the time, but Diane Behrens' birthday is not given. Then, four years later, Gail O'Grady appears as Julia McCullough again in the episode, The Kidnapper (1990), and she does not look like she has aged a bit.
